Just found a nifty tool, YSlow (http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/). This helps to identify why a html page loads slowly. I ran it on a class in Moodle and it turns out there’s 12k + items in the DOM…. which is why it’s loading slow.

eAccelerator on Ubuntu

It took me awhile to figure out how to get eAccelerator up and running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server Edition. I finally found this blog post that helped. http://blog.thehippo.de/2009/08/server/eaccelerator-on-ubuntu/ The only change I had to make was updating the version of eAccelerator. If you are running cli edition as well as apache, you will need to mod both php.ini files.

Just watched a webinar on running PHP in Azure, Microsoft’s cloud. Although cool, I can’t understand why you would want to do it. There are other easier ways of running PHP in the cloud.
